Frankfort Elks Donate Winter Supplies and Clothing to the Lexington VA

Recently, the Frankfort Elks Lodge donated 20 backpacks filled with supplies to the Lexington VA Center on Leestown Road. Funded by a grant from the Elks National Foundation, the backpacks contain emergency first aid kits, hygiene kits, ponchos, a Mylar blanket, socks, gloves, sock hats, flashlight, food gift card, chap stick, and other useful items. The backpacks will be given to the homeless veterans that come into the clothing room at the VA for clothes. The Elks also donated several gently used clothing items to help keep the clothing room stocked as winter approaches.

The Elks have pledged that “So long as there are veterans, the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks will never forget them.” These donations represent a part of Frankfort Lodge’s commitment to fulfilling that pledge.
