Elks Deliver Breakfast and Christmas Cards to Leestown VA Veterans

Frankfort Lodge members recently prepared and served a good old fashioned country breakfast to around 75 veterans and staff the Leestown Road Veterans Center. Not only was there plenty of great food, but local recording artist and Frankfort Elks member Mike Archer provided entertainment, performing a number of songs.

Pictured above is John Lazzari, VA Recreation Supervisor, as well as Elk members Paula Groves, Ricky Groves, Bill Moore and Rick Nesselrode. Other Elks members present were Debbie Foy, Sulena Bryant, Nancy Estes and Sandy Moore.

Roughly one week later, the Frankfort Elks again visited the Lexington Leestown VA Hospital. This time, it was for our monthly pizza party, but with a holiday twist. In addition to pizza and soft drinks, Elk members Sulena Bryant, center, and Debbie Foy, right, also delivered a money-filled, home made Christmas card to to each of the veterans. The Christmas cards were the handiwork of students at Peaks Mill Elementary School under the guidance of teacher Rachel Clark. One veteran remarked that the home-made cards made his day when a child’s card referred to him as “one cool Veteran.”
